Primary School Links
Kingsthorpe College has a successful and strong relationship with the surrounding primary schools. We work with them on a variety of projects and events throughout the year, some of which you can read about below.
Kings for Gold
Kings For Gold has become an annual Primary School Sport Festival, run by the students/staff at Kingsthorpe College. It was first launched in 2012 as a celebration when the Olympic & Paralympic Games came to London. The Festival was such a huge success that we decided to make it an annual event.
Kings For Gold has grown in size every year and has now developed into a large Inter-School Athletics Competition, with children competing from reception to year 6. We have had up to 200 children competing from local primary schools. Many more children get involved on the day in the Opening Ceremony, which includes a variety of dance and musical performances.
Multi-Sport Festivals
Kingsthorpe College host a number of multi-sport festivals every year for children in years 3-6 from local primary schools. The aim of these events is for primary school children to come to Kingsthorpe College to try a variety of sports in a relaxed environment. The activities are organised and ran by Kingsthorpe College Sports Leaders who do an absolutely fantastic job!.
Sports Competitions
We host numerous sport specific competitions throughout the year for primary schools across Northampton. During this academic year alone, we have already hosted netball, tag rugby, and football competitions. In the coming couple of months there will also be Gymnastics, Archery and Cross Country Competitions held at Kingsthorpe College. Most of these events take place after school, and are supported by our own students who volunteer to help out.
