Director of Achievement Miss Old and House Manager Mr Heffernan lead Purple House with the guidance of Miss Bunker. With ten fantastic tutors based around the school, we aim to support pupils in many different ways to make their time happy, fun and successful whilst also developing independent, respectful individuals who can fully realise their potential.
The vertical tutoring system allows students from all years to interact in a community setting where older students can support and mentor others. Every day in tutor time our students will work together on the tutor time activities. We encourage competitiveness and enthusiasm amongst our students. We aim to perform incredibly well in the exciting inter-house competitions and we know that 2016-2017 will be the best year ever. We have a good attendance record, and we are always looking to improve this. Our greatest sporting claim to fame recently is ex Purple pupil Callum Robinson who plays for Preston North End and has represented England.
The House Charity from 2015 is RSPCA . Purple pupils voted to support the RSPCA at the beginning of the year. Purple House will hold regular fundraising events to support this worthy charity. We are aiming for it to be the highest amount of money raised so far this year. Thanks to all those involved in fundraising for Purple House’s previous charity of the last 3 years Myeloma UK where we raised in total just over £4000. Our House Charity this year is Cancer Research UK and we have already been working hard in order to raise money for this incredibly worthwhile cause.
We look forward to welcoming all our new year 7s in September 2016
Tutor Time Activities
Miss Old and Mr Heffernan along with the Purple House tutors like to reward students who we feel go that extra mile in their lessons and school life. If you attend school every day and have a good attitude to learning and aspirations it is more than likely you will be nominated to receive a reward. Purple House students from every tutor group are rewarded three times a year for their excellent attendance and outstanding attitude to learning. Alongside this, the tutor team will also nominate students who they feel have consistently represented the KC core values.
House assemblies are used to highlight Purple House students that have received aspiration awards in various subjects. Each week rewards are given out to a ‘Tutor Star’ in one of our twelve ten groups, meeting the Headteacher and receiving praise and a reward directly from them. We also send home postcards to families to highlight the exceptional work and progress made by our students.
Purple House strives towards following the core values of Kingsthorpe College Care, Respect, Aspiration and Responsibility. We look forward to wishing all new and present Purple Pupils in September 2016 the best of luck on their journey with us.
