This week young people across the UK are choosing their favourite short story from the BBC National Short Story Award in partnership with the Book Trust. Almost 200 schools applied to take part in Student Choice, which gives A level students the opportunity to shadow judge the award. Students from Kingsthorpe College were one of only twenty schools across the UK to be specially selected to make up the official student judging panel.
Kingsthorpe College students are celebrating their GCSE results today having maintained the school’s high expectations and standards, with 56% of students gaining 5A*-C grades. Reinforcing the College’s ethos of academic, athletic, and artistic excellence, Art, Drama, ICT, PE and Photography have performed exceptionally well with a number of subjects achieving 100% pass rates. Even though there are concerns at a national level about the number of students achieving the top grades, Kingsthorpe College students are still pulling in a string of A*’s and A’s.
